Down to Earth Counseling.

Chelsea DEan, LMHC

About me

As a licensed mental health counselor, I bring a diverse educational and professional background to my practice. I earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminology from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Gulf Coast University. My career began as a behavioral therapist, utilizing ABA techniques to support children with autism and ODD symptoms. After completing my master’s, my focus and training expanded to children and adolescents, incorporating more creative techniques including play therapy, art, guided visualizations and mindful movement .

My passion for women’s health deepened after the birth of my first daughter, leading me to advocate for women and address societal pressures through specialized training on a variety of women’s issues. I find great fulfillment in working across the spectrum of child development—from supporting expecting and new mothers to guiding children through critical developmental stages. My experience spans in-home family work, large group practices, and college campus counseling through CAPS programs. Additionally, as a 200-hour registered yoga and meditation teacher, I integrate mindfulness and holistic practices into my therapeutic approach, ensuring a well-rounded and compassionate framework for healing and growth. I also use evidence based practices such as interpersonal psychotherapy, CBT, and family systems, to meet the needs of each individual.

What it’s like to work with me

As a mother and nature enthusiast, I draw inspiration from the balance and harmony of the natural world, bringing a calming, grounded presence to my work—always infused with a touch of humor. My down-to-earth personality helps create a relatable and approachable environment, making the process of navigating therapy feel more manageable. As a wife and mother of two, I personally understand the struggle to set aside time for yourself and find balance in a busy life. I believe the heart of effective therapy lies in the relationship between therapist and client, which is why I collaborate closely with parents to truly understand their child and their family’s unique needs. My goal is to ensure that therapy feels like the right fit, providing the foundation for meaningful growth and connection.
